With Law 14,534, which comes into force in 2024, the CPF will be the only identification number for citizens, for all relations between the individual and the State. The number will consist of public documents, civil records and inscriptions existing in federal, state and municipal public databases. In order to make any public service request, it will be necessary to inform the CPF.
At Consulates, requests for passports, certificates and birth, marriage and death certificates must contain the CPF number. The Consulates are already prepared for the new law and the CPF is already being included in the birth certificates. Even if your child was born and registered abroad, but still does not have a CPF, look for the nearest Consulate to find out if it is possible.
Even those who have no plans to return to Brazil must obtain a CPF. Brazilians residing abroad can apply for a CPF or consult their registration status directly with the Federal Revenue, in an online process, without having to go to the Consulate. Just access:
